The Unseen Hero: Joe Burrow’s MVP Case

The Overlooked MVP: A Case for Joe Burrow

As the NFL season comes to a close, the debate for Most Valuable Player is heating up. According to the odds, Josh Allen is the frontrunner for the award, and it’s hard to argue against his impressive performance leading the Bills to the #2 seed and AFC East Title. However, there’s another quarterback who deserves serious consideration for the honor: Joe Burrow.

A Season for the Ages

Burrow’s incredible season has flown under the radar, with odds of 200-1 making him a dark horse for the award. But the numbers don’t lie: he led the NFL in yardage and touchdown passes, a feat made even more impressive by the fact that he achieved it on a team with a struggling defense. In fact, Burrow threw for at least 250 yards and 3 touchdowns in 8 consecutive games, a record that has never been seen before in NFL history.

Carrying His Team

The Bengals’ poor defense and weak offensive line made Burrow’s job even more challenging. Despite these obstacles, he managed to will his team to victory time and time again, only to be let down by his teammates in crucial moments. The Bengals lost four games in which they scored over 30 points, a testament to Burrow’s ability to put up points despite the odds.

A Victim of Circumstance

It’s unfair to blame Burrow for the Bengals’ lack of playoff success. He did everything in his power to get them to the postseason, only to be thwarted by a series of heartbreaking losses. The team’s defense was historically bad, and Burrow’s efforts were often undone by their inability to hold leads.

Giving Credit Where Credit is Due

Burrow’s season was one for the ages, and he deserves recognition for his incredible achievements. It’s time to look beyond the odds and give him the award he so rightly deserves. As my colleague Jon Gruden so aptly put it, Burrow’s case for MVP is undeniable.
