Miracle Comeback or Dirty Play?
The Washington Commanders pulled off an incredible comeback victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, but it wasn’t without controversy. In a game filled with twists and turns, the Commanders’ win was marred by questionable tactics and a series of unfortunate events.
A Game-Changing Hit
On the 11th play of the game, disaster struck for the Eagles. A brutal hit on Jalen Hurts left him concussed and forced him to exit the game. The lack of a flag on the play raised eyebrows, and one can’t help but wonder if the outcome would have been different if the quarterback in question was someone like Patrick Mahomes.
Enter Kenny Pickett
With Hurts out, backup quarterback Kenny Pickett took the reins. Unfortunately, his inexperience and lack of skill were evident throughout the game. His underthrown passes allowed the Commanders’ defense to focus on stopping the Eagles’ run game, effectively neutralizing their offense.
A Tale of Two Halves
The Eagles dominated the first quarter, scoring three touchdowns. However, with Pickett at the helm, they managed only four field goals for the remainder of the game. It was a stunning turnaround, and one that left commentators Joe Davis and Greg Olsen baffled.
Commentary Chaos
Davis and Olsen’s commentary was cringe-worthy, with the duo marveling at the Commanders’ ability to stay in the game despite numerous turnovers. It was as if they were oblivious to the fact that the Eagles were being led by a backup quarterback with limited abilities.
A Series of Unfortunate Events
The Eagles’ woes were compounded by the ejection of CJ Gardner-Johnson for unsportsmanlike conduct and a slew of injuries that left them with a depleted roster. It was a perfect storm of misfortune, and one that ultimately cost them the game.
A Familiar Feeling
For the Eagles, this loss will feel all too familiar. It marks the second time this season that they’ve let a win slip through their fingers due to dropped passes. DeVonta Smith’s crucial drop today was reminiscent of Saquon Barkley’s mistake in week 2. These errors are proving costly, and the Eagles need to find a way to overcome them if they hope to succeed.
