NBA Investigation Needed: What’s Going Wrong in Denver?
The city of Denver is witnessing a baffling downward spiral, and it’s time to sound the alarm. The Nuggets’ decisions since their 2023 NBA title have been nothing short of perplexing. From the makings of a modern dynasty to struggling to beat the lowly Washington Wizards, something is amiss.
A Superstar Wasted
Nikola Jokic is having the best season of his illustrious career, yet his efforts are being squandered. His 56-point performance against the Wizards should have been enough to secure a win, but it wasn’t. The fact that Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon were absent from the game is no excuse, especially considering Murray’s underwhelming performance this season.
Blame Game
The buck stops at Calvin Booth’s doorstep, and to some extent, Michael Malone’s outdated offensive system. It’s incomprehensible how you can waste the prime of an NBA great like Jokic. He’s the easiest superstar to build around, and yet the Nuggets are struggling to stay afloat.
Desperation Mode
As a Nuggets fan, it’s infuriating to watch Jokic’s historic MVP-caliber season go to waste. The solution lies in making drastic changes, starting with impacting the people responsible for this mess where it hurts – their wallets. Unfortunately, CBA rules might prevent such drastic measures.
A Generational Talent at Risk
Jokic’s patience must be wearing thin. Will he eventually hit the market, or worse, pack his bags and head back to Serbia? The thought is unsettling. The NBA season is long, and teams go through ups and downs, but the Nuggets’ current state is unacceptable.
Rock Bottom
Losing to the Wizards while Jokic puts up 56 points is a new low. If the Nuggets don’t take drastic action, they risk losing their franchise player. It’s time for accountability, and if that means writing a check to Jokic as an apology, then so be it. The entire franchise, from top to bottom, is letting him down.
