NFL Week 14 Preview: Ups and Downs
Rams and 49ers Face Off on Thursday Night
After a dismal 4-7-2 record last week, I’m looking to bounce back with a stronger performance. My current season record stands at 113-89-6. The Rams, inconsistent all season, will face the 49ers on Thursday night. The Rams have had impressive wins, like their recent victory over Buffalo, but have also suffered losses to weaker teams like the Bears. Moreover, they have struggled in primetime games. The 49ers, plagued by injuries, must win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Sunday’s Early Games
The Panthers have shown signs of improvement, narrowly losing to the Eagles and Chiefs in recent weeks. Meanwhile, the Cowboys appear to be in disarray after their dismal Monday night loss to the Bengals. The Chiefs, despite their 12-1 record, have struggled to cover the spread and may be vulnerable to an upset against the Browns, led by the unpredictable Jameis Winston. The Dolphins still have a slim chance at the playoffs, but it’s a long shot. The Texans, fresh from their bye week, should get back on track as they chase the division title.
Afternoon Games
The Jets’ playoff hopes are officially over, and now they’re focused on draft position. Expect them to win some games, as they often defy expectations. The Raiders, without Derek Carr, will likely struggle against Washington. The Giants, massive underdogs at home, seem destined for a house cleaning after the season. The Bengals, still in the hunt, face a struggling Titans team they should dominate. The Cardinals, meanwhile, are fighting to stay alive after three straight losses.
Late Games
The Broncos and Colts are vying for the last AFC playoff spot, making their matchup crucial. The Bills, fresh from a shootout loss to the Rams, should win against the Lions, whose defense is banged up and vulnerable. The Buccaneers, gaining momentum, face the sputtering Chargers. The Eagles and Steelers, both playing solid football, will clash in a battle of Pennsylvania, with the potential for overtime drama.
Sunday Night and Monday Night
The Seahawks, struggling at home, face the Packers, who have had an up-and-down season. The Vikings, chasing the Lions for first place, should dominate the Bears, who seem to be regressing under new coaching. The Raiders, despite their poor record, often stay competitive, making their matchup against the Falcons an ugly but intriguing one.
