Fogarty Commits to Adelaide Long-Term
In a major boost for the Adelaide Football Club, forward Darcy Fogarty has signed a six-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2031 AFL season. The 25-year-old South Australian was set to enter free agency next season but has instead chosen to commit his future to the Crows.
Career Best Form
Fogarty is coming off a career-best 41 goals in 2024, surpassing the 100-game mark in the process. His impressive form has made him a crucial part of Adelaide’s forward set-up, and he is expected to lead the attack next year with Taylor Walker nearing the end of his career.
Growth and Development
Despite facing challenges early in his career, Fogarty has shown significant growth and development, particularly over the past two seasons. He credits the club’s senior players for helping him build chemistry with the forward line and is now looking forward to passing on his knowledge and experience to others.
Long-Term Commitment
Fogarty’s decision to re-sign with Adelaide is a testament to his love for the club and his faith in its direction. “I’d love to finish my career a one-club player,” he said. “The club has put its faith in me, and I’m excited to repay them and continue the journey with my teammates.”
Crucial Signature
Fogarty’s early signature is a crucial coup for Adelaide, who are determined to make finals and relieve pressure on coach Matthew Nicks in his sixth year at the helm. List boss Justin Reid praised Fogarty’s growth and ability, saying he is a “very important part of our forward line.”
Among the Elite
Fogarty joins an elite group of players, including Sydney’s Nick Blakey and Brisbane’s Hugh McCluggage, in re-signing until 2031. Only a handful of players, including Port Adelaide skipper Connor Rozee and Western Bulldogs forward Aaron Naughton, have longer contracts.
