Cooper Kupp Focused on Being the Best LA Ram Amid Trade Rumors
As the NFL’s November 5 trade deadline approaches, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp finds himself at the center of speculation. Despite the rumors, Kupp remains committed to his team and is determined to be the best player he can be.
A Season Interrupted by Injury
Kupp has been sidelined since Week 2, when he suffered an ankle sprain in a loss to the Arizona Cardinals. In the two games prior to his injury, he had 18 catches for 147 yards and a touchdown. After missing several weeks, Kupp returned to practice last week and was listed as questionable to play in Week 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Preparing for a Return to Action
On Tuesday, Kupp was estimated to be a full participant in practice, which was a walkthrough due to the short week. He is expected to play Thursday night at home against the Minnesota Vikings. While Kupp is eager to return to the field, he acknowledges that his workload will be determined by the coaches and training staff.
Confidence in His Return
Kupp, who sat out four games on injured reserve last season due to a hamstring injury, feels confident in his return. He credits a full offseason of training and preparation for his readiness to play. “Being able to have a full offseason this year and being able to build that up and put the work in to set yourself up to go do something this year,” he said, “I feel real confident about being able to come back now knowing that I have that base and be able to play really good football.”
A Focus on the Present
Despite the trade rumors surrounding him, Kupp remains focused on the present moment. “I’m aware of it, but at the end of the day, I mean, I’m going to be where my feet are,” he said. “That’s all I know. I have a job to do here. And I take a lot of pride in giving everything I can for the guys in this building and being able to step on the field knowing that I prepared the best that I can.”
A Commitment to the LA Rams
Kupp has been an LA Ram for seven and a half years, and he takes pride in his commitment to the team. “I’ve taken that approach every single day,” he said. “And whatever happens outside of that, I’ve got to control what I can control. And right now that means being the best LA Ram that I can be.”
