Celtics Shine Bright in Season Opener Against Knicks
The highly anticipated matchup between the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks kicked off the NBA season with a bang. Despite being the first game of the season, Jalen Brunson believed it would be a fair indicator of where the new-look Knicks stood against the defending champions.
A Night to Remember for Boston
The Celtics dominated the Knicks from start to finish, securing a 132-109 win. However, the real excitement came in the final 8:54 of the game, as Boston attempted to break the NBA record for 3-pointers made in a game. Al Horford tied the record with Boston’s third straight make to start the fourth quarter, but the team ultimately fell short, missing 13 consecutive attempts.
A Stellar Performance
Boston’s impressive display was evident from the outset, with the team going 10-for-16 from 3-point range in the first quarter. They matched their franchise record of 17 made triples by halftime, staking a 19-point lead. The Celtics shot 50 percent from the field for the game, finishing with 33 assists and just three turnovers.
A Significant Margin
The difference in 3-point shooting was staggering, with Boston outscoring New York by 54 points from behind the arc. The Celtics made 29 3-pointers, while the Knicks managed just 11. In fact, Boston nearly made more 3-pointers than New York attempted in total (30) on the evening.
A Promising Start
The Celtics’ impressive performance sets the tone for the rest of the season. With their dominant display, they have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. As for the Knicks, they will need to regroup and reassess their strategy if they hope to compete with the defending champions.
