Real Madrid’s Evolution: Why Jude Bellingham’s Goal Drought Isn’t a Concern
In a season marked by transition and growth, Real Madrid’s manager Carlo Ancelotti is focusing on the bigger picture. Despite Jude Bellingham’s nine-game goal drought, Ancelotti believes the young midfielder’s contributions to the team are more valuable than his scoring record.
A Changing Role for Bellingham
Since the arrival of Kylian Mbappé, Bellingham has adapted to a new position on the right-hand side of the attack. His role in the team has evolved, and Ancelotti is pleased with the England midfielder’s progress. “We’re satisfied with his work, I’m very satisfied,” Ancelotti said in a recent news conference. “He works a lot, he’s always present, he competes, he fights, he sacrifices himself.”
The Surprise Was Last Year
Bellingham’s goal-scoring record last season was impressive, but Ancelotti sees it as an anomaly. “The surprise isn’t this year, the surprise was last year, when he scored lots of goals which nobody expected and helped us a lot,” Ancelotti explained. With talented players like Mbappé up front, Ancelotti is confident that the team will continue to score goals.
Mbappé’s Role in the Team
Mbappé has already made an impact this season, scoring six league goals. However, some critics have questioned his work rate off the ball. Ancelotti dismissed these concerns, emphasizing that Mbappé’s primary role is to score goals. “I ask him to score goals,” Ancelotti said. “I prefer him to score goals rather than pressing.”
Room for Improvement
Despite their unbeaten record in LaLiga, Real Madrid hasn’t always convinced this season. Ancelotti acknowledges that the team needs to improve, particularly in terms of defending. “We aren’t 100%, obviously,” Ancelotti said. “We’ve got good results, but we have to improve in terms of our play, and little by little, we will.”
Looking Ahead to El Clásico
With a crucial match against Barcelona looming, Ancelotti is focused on preparing his team for the challenge ahead. As the team continues to evolve and grow, Ancelotti is confident that they will rise to the occasion.
