Tank Bigsby Breaks Out: Jaguars RB Seizes Opportunity in Win Over Patriots

Tank Bigsby Seizes Opportunity as Lead Back in Jaguars’ Victory

In the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 32-16 win over the New England Patriots at Wembley Stadium, running back Tank Bigsby had a career-defining performance. With Travis Etienne Jr. sidelined due to a hamstring injury, Bigsby took center stage, rushing for 118 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries.

A Changing of the Guard? Not So Fast

Despite Bigsby’s impressive showing, coach Doug Pederson is not ready to alter the team’s depth chart just yet. Etienne, who has eclipsed 1,000 yards rushing in each of the past two seasons, remains the team’s top running back. “I’m a believer that injury doesn’t replace your position,” Pederson said. “We’re blessed to have two really good running backs right now.”

Bigsby’s Physical Running Style Pays Off

Bigsby’s physicality was on full display against the Patriots, as he punished defenders between the tackles. The Jaguars called runs on 16 consecutive plays at one point, with Bigsby carrying the ball 11 times for 52 yards. His ability to wear down the opposing defense was a key factor in the team’s victory.

Making the Most of Opportunities

For Bigsby, the opportunity to start was a chance to prove himself. “It feels like you don’t get too many opportunities in the National Football League, so when you get one, you have to take full advantage of them and do it at your best ability,” he said. Bigsby now has 415 yards rushing this season, averaging 6.2 yards per carry.

A Team-First Mentality

Despite his success, Bigsby remains focused on the team’s overall success. “I just do whatever I have to do for this team to win,” he said. “My job, whatever my role is, whatever I have to do, take advantage of the opportunities of course, but just come out and help this team win.” With Bigsby’s emergence, the Jaguars now have a formidable one-two punch in their backfield.
