36ers Storm Back to Down JackJumpers
In a stunning turnaround, the Adelaide 36ers overcame a sluggish start to defeat the Tasmania JackJumpers 77-73 in their NBL clash. The Sixers’ dominant third quarter proved to be the decisive factor, as they celebrated Jason Cadee’s 400th game in style.
Slow Start for Adelaide
The JackJumpers burst out of the blocks, with imports Jordon Crawford and Milton Doyle leading the charge. Tasmania’s defense was solid, highlighted by Will Magnay’s impressive block of Montrezl Harrell’s attempted dunk. The reigning champions led 39-31 at halftime, with the Sixers’ tally their lowest first half all year.
Third Quarter Explosion
However, the Sixers came alive in the third term, starting with a 7-0 flurry capped by Sunday Dech’s three-pointer. Dejan Vasiljevic ended his rut with a teardrop and a three-pointer, while Kendric Davis’s quick hands on defense and slick play-making stressed the Jackies. Adelaide pinched the lead on a Davis drive and suddenly led 54-50 at the last break.
Sixers Extend Lead
The Sixers extended their lead to 63-50 after producing a 16-0 tear either side of three-quarter-time. They effectively warded off Tasmania’s plucky late rearguard charge, despite Doyle’s best efforts. The JackJumpers’ swingman scored 22 points, including a triple with nine seconds left that trimmed the Sixers’ lead to two points.
Davis Seals the Win
However, Davis sealed the win for the Sixers with two free throws, securing a hard-fought victory. The point guard finished with 23 points and six assists, while Harrell added 22 points. The Sixers moved to fifth place with the win, improving their record to 4-3.
JackJumpers’ Late Charge Falls Short
Despite their valiant effort, the JackJumpers fell short in the end. Doyle’s performance was a highlight, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Sixers’ dominant third quarter. The JackJumpers will look to bounce back in their next outing, while the Sixers will aim to build on their momentum.
