Islanders’ Anthony Duclair Sidelined with Lower-Body Injury
A significant setback has hit the New York Islanders, as forward Anthony Duclair is facing a long-term absence due to a lower-body injury. Fortunately, the team’s general manager, Lou Lamoriello, has confirmed that Duclair’s season is not over.
Injury Details Emerge
Duclair, 29, sustained the injury during Saturday’s thrilling 4-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens. As he drove towards the net, minimal contact from Canadiens defenseman Jayden Struble sent Duclair crashing to the ice in visible pain. He managed just one shot on goal in 15:07 of ice time before being helped off the ice.
Further Testing Scheduled
Lamoriello announced that further testing will take place on Tuesday, providing more insight into the extent of Duclair’s injury. The Islanders are holding their breath, hoping for a speedy recovery from their talented forward.
Duclair’s Impact on the Team
Signed to a four-year, $14 million contract in the offseason, Duclair has quickly become an integral part of the Islanders’ lineup. With three points (two goals, one assist) in just five games, his absence will undoubtedly be felt. Over his 11-year career, Duclair has accumulated an impressive 306 points (148 goals, 158 assists) in 568 games.
A Seasoned Veteran
Duclair, a Pointe-Claire, Quebec native, has played for nine teams in his 11-year career. His experience and skillset make him a valuable asset to the Islanders. As the team navigates this challenging period, they will need to rely on their depth and resilience to overcome Duclair’s absence.
