Seahawks Star DK Metcalf Sidelined with MCL Sprain
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf is nursing a Grade 1 MCL sprain, an injury that may keep him out of the team’s Week 8 game against the Buffalo Bills. While coach Mike Macdonald described the injury as “minor,” the team is taking a cautious approach to ensure Metcalf’s long-term health.
Injury Update
Metcalf suffered the injury late in the third quarter of Sunday’s win over the Atlanta Falcons while attempting to make a sideline catch. He was later taken into the locker room on the back of an injury cart with an ice wrap over his right knee. Despite the setback, Metcalf had a productive game, catching four passes for 99 yards, including a 31-yard touchdown.
Uncertainty Surrounds Seahawks’ Secondary and Right Tackle
The Seahawks are facing uncertainty at several key positions, including cornerback and right tackle. Coach Macdonald expressed hope that cornerback Riq Woolen would return to practice in some capacity on Wednesday, but the status of fellow cornerback Tre Brown remains uncertain. Meanwhile, the team is still searching for stability at right tackle, with George Fant, Abe Lucas, and Stone Forsythe all potentially in play to start against Buffalo.
Abe Lucas Nearing Return
Lucas, who has been on the physically unable to perform list while recovering from offseason knee surgery, may be designated to return to practice this week. However, coach Macdonald emphasized that Lucas is still several weeks away from being game-ready, citing the need for a significant amount of practice time to get him ready to play.
