Seahawks Face Uncertainty on the Field
As the Seattle Seahawks prepare to take on the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday, they’re facing a daunting task: navigating the game without several key players. The team’s right tackle position has been plagued by injuries, with Stone Forsythe, the latest to fall, ruled out due to a hand injury.
A New Face at Right Tackle
Rookie Mike Jerrell, a sixth-round pick from Division II Findlay, is set to make his debut as the starter. Despite being a healthy scratch for the first five games, Jerrell has impressed coaches with his rapid improvement. “He had a great week of prep,” Coach Mike Macdonald praised. “The guy’s just kept improving since he’s gotten here. He’s come such a long way in less than a year, so proud of him.”
Cornerback Conundrum
The Seahawks will also be without two of their top three cornerbacks, Pro Bowler Riq Woolen and Tre Brown, who were ruled out due to ankle injuries. To fill the gap, the team will elevate Faion Hicks and Josh Jobe from the practice squad, with Devon Witherspoon also playing a key role at nickelback.
Injury Updates
Safety Rayshawn Jenkins, who was placed on injured reserve earlier this week with a hand injury, underwent surgery last Friday and is expected to return this season. Meanwhile, Forsythe’s hand injury is expected to keep him sidelined for a short period, with Macdonald assuring that “he’ll be back soon.”
The Road Ahead
As the Seahawks look to snap their three-game losing streak, they face an uphill battle as 3.0-point underdogs against the Falcons. Despite the challenges, Coach Macdonald remains optimistic, saying the team is “shooting to have” Woolen and Brown back next week. With Jerrell set to make his debut and a makeshift secondary, the Seahawks will need to dig deep to come out on top.
