Pogba’s Juventus Future in Doubt
A recent statement from Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli has cast a shadow over Paul Pogba’s hopes of returning to the Serie A side. Despite having a contract until June 2026, Pogba’s chances of playing for Juve again seem increasingly slim.
A Long and Winding Road
The 31-year-old midfielder has been out of action since testing positive for DHEA, a banned substance that boosts testosterone levels, in September 2023. His initial four-year ban was reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport earlier this month, making him eligible to play for Juve as soon as his ban ends in March.
A Change of Heart?
However, Giuntoli’s comments suggest that Juve may have moved on from Pogba. “Our position is clear. Pogba has been a great player, he has been out for a long time and last year we were forced to invest in other players,” he told DAZN. “So now the squad is complete as it is.” This statement implies that Pogba’s services may no longer be required.
A New Chapter?
ESPN reported last week that Pogba could become a free agent after opening talks with Juventus with a view to terminating his contract. It appears that both Pogba and Juventus are open to the prospect of him restarting his career elsewhere. With his ban set to end in March, Pogba will be looking to get his career back on track – but it seems unlikely to be with Juventus.
Uncertainty Surrounds Pogba’s Future
As the situation unfolds, one thing is certain – Paul Pogba’s future in football is far from clear. Will he find a new club to call home, or will he manage to revive his career with Juventus? Only time will tell.
