Duke Lands Top Recruit Nikolas Khamenia, Bolstering 2025 Class
In a significant coup for the Blue Devils, top-35 senior Nikolas Khamenia has committed to Duke, choosing the program over UCLA. This marks the third major commitment for Duke in the past two weeks, following the decisions of twin brothers Cameron and Cayden Boozer.
A Special Connection with Coach Scheyer
Khamenia’s decision was heavily influenced by his relationship with Duke coach Jon Scheyer. “Duke was a place I visited and felt it was special from the moment I left campus,” Khamenia explained. “Coach Scheyer believes in me and my abilities.” The young coach’s ability to connect with his players on a personal level was a major draw for Khamenia.
A Versatile Player with Endless Potential
The 6-foot-8 forward from Harvard-Westlake has already made a name for himself on the national stage. He turned heads at the recent USA Basketball junior national team minicamp, leading NBA scouts to speculate about his potential as a one-and-done prospect. Khamenia’s impressive skills were on full display at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup, where he helped lead the team to a gold medal.
A Perfect Fit for Duke’s Winning Culture
Khamenia’s commitment is a significant boost for Duke’s 2025 class, which now boasts three top-35 recruits. “The Boozers are ultimately winners, and they are like-minded to me,” Khamenia said of his fellow Duke recruits. “I have talked to them a bit and have played against them as well. I respect them a lot, both as players and as people.”
A Bright Future Ahead
With Khamenia on board, Duke is poised for success in the years to come. His unique blend of skill, vision, and toughness makes him a valuable asset to the program. As Harvard-Westlake coach Dave Rebibo noted, “Nik is an incredible young man who has grown and developed every single year.” The future looks bright for Khamenia and the Blue Devils.
