Formula 1: Ferrari’s True Test Awaits at the U.S. Grand Prix

As the Formula 1 season enters its final stretch, Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz is gearing up for a crucial test of his team’s championship hopes at the U.S. Grand Prix this Sunday. With six rounds remaining, Ferrari is currently third in the constructors’ standings, just 34 points behind reigning champions Red Bull and 75 points adrift of leaders McLaren.

Upgrades Bring New Hope

The Italian team introduced significant upgrades at their home Grand Prix at Monza on September 1, which paid off with Charles Leclerc’s win and subsequent pole position at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Sainz, who secured a podium finish in Austin last year, is eager to see if these upgrades will translate to success on more traditional tracks.

A Return to Normalcy

After navigating high-speed corners and unusual tracks in recent races, Ferrari is set to face a new challenge in Austin. “We’re going back to normal tracks with long, combined corners, high-speed corners,” Sainz explained. “Let’s see where we are now in these kinds of tracks and see if we can still fight like we did in Singapore and Baku and Monza.”

Confidence Boost

The recent string of strong performances has instilled confidence in the team, but Sainz acknowledges that the true test lies ahead. “I think this will be the most important test so far for us to see whether all these upgrades that we brought in the past are working in the right direction for more of a normal kind of track like we see here in Austin.”

Fine-Tuning for Success

While there are no significant changes to the car for Austin, Sainz believes that the front wing upgrade introduced in Singapore has made a positive impact. The real question is whether Ferrari’s improved pace in recent races is due to the upgrades or the unique characteristics of the tracks. Austin will provide the answer.
