All Blacks Unleash New Talent: Fresh Faces for Japan Test

All Blacks Unveil Fresh Faces for Japan Clash

In a bold move, the All Blacks have named a revamped squad for their upcoming Test against Japan in Yokohama. The team features several newcomers, including Cam Roigard, who will play his first Test of the year, and Peter Lakai and Ruben Love, who are set to make their international debuts.

New Blood Injects Energy into Squad

Roigard, who shone in the World Cup pool stage last year, has been sidelined since suffering a serious knee injury in March. Now fit, the 23-year-old will pair up with fly-half Damian McKenzie to run the backline against the Brave Blossoms. Lakai, a late addition to the squad, and Love, who earned his All Blacks call-up with an outstanding Super Rugby season, are also expected to bring fresh energy to the team.

Leadership Role for Patrick Tuipulotu

In another significant move, Patrick Tuipulotu will captain the side for the first time, replacing fellow lock Scott Barrett. Loosehead prop Pasilio Tosi will make his first start in his fourth Test, while Stephen Perofeta, who has also been sidelined by injury, gets his chance to start at fullback.

Coach Scott Robertson’s Verdict

“The energy in the group as we kick off this tour is exciting to see,” coach Scott Robertson said. “We will bring that energy when we face the Brave Blossoms on Saturday as we know that Japan will play a fast, attacking game.” Robertson also praised the newcomers, saying, “We are all thrilled for Ruben and Peter who will get their chance to make their mark on the black jersey for the first time, and for Stephen and Cam who have both worked hard to make their return from injury.”
