As the halfway mark of the 16-week season approaches, teams are gearing up to showcase their unique styles on the field. This week, some of the most eye-catching uniforms will make their debut, paying homage to legendary players and rich histories.
A Century of Greatness
On October 18, 1924, Hall of Fame running back Red Grange led the Fighting Illini to a 39-14 victory over Michigan with an unforgettable six-touchdown performance. To commemorate this milestone, Illinois will don a throwback uniform inspired by the classic look worn by Grange and his teammates in Saturday’s Memorial Stadium rededication game.
Icy Whites Take Center Stage
Oregon, ranked No. 2, has dominated its competition this season, including a statement win over Ohio State. The Ducks will take the field against Purdue on Friday night donning an all-white ensemble from their “Generation O” uniform collection, complete with a mascot patch on the shoulder. LSU, meanwhile, will sport an all-white look on the road against Arkansas, while James Madison will match their impressive on-field performance with a crisp all-white uniform against Georgia Southern.
Unique Combinations Steal the Show
Purdue, seeking to turn their season around, will debut a sleek all-black alternate uniform with gold lettering and trimming, along with a gold facemask on the helmet, as they face off against Oregon. Utah, looking to rebound from a tough stretch, will wear a striking black-on-white combo against TCU. Arizona, meanwhile, will don an all-red ensemble as they take on coach Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes.
