Bills’ Running Back James Cook Ready to Return
After a brief hiatus, Buffalo Bills running back James Cook is set to take the field again, this time against the Tennessee Titans. Cook had missed last week’s win over the New York Jets due to a toe injury, but his name is notably absent from the Bills’ final injury report of the week.
A Speedy Recovery
Cook’s toe injury occurred during the Bills’ Week 5 loss to the Houston Texans. Initially, he was expected to participate in a workout before the Jets game, but the team ultimately decided he wasn’t ready to contribute. However, with a full participation in practice on Thursday and Friday, Cook is now cleared to play.
Ray Davis Steps Up
In Cook’s absence, running back Ray Davis made a significant impact, leading the team in both rushing (97 yards on 20 carries) and receiving (3 catches for 55 yards). However, Davis is now questionable for Sunday’s game due to a calf injury that surfaced at the end of the previous game.
Coach McDermott Weighs In
“[The injury] actually showed up at the very end of the game,” coach Sean McDermott explained on Friday. “At the time, we didn’t think it was significant, but it popped up again yesterday during practice. So we’ll see how [Davis] does today and go from there.” Davis was limited in practice on Thursday and Friday.
Bills’ Health on the Upswing
The Bills are finally getting healthier, with no starters listed with injury designations. Defensive tackle Ed Oliver, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury for the past two games, is set to return. Safety Mike Edwards is questionable after missing Friday’s practice due to an illness, while running back Darrynton Evans (hamstring) remains doubtful.
