A Star Falls: Colorado State’s Tory Horton Sidelined for the Season
In a devastating blow to the Colorado State Rams, standout wide receiver Tory Horton will miss the remainder of the season due to a serious injury requiring surgery. The news marks the end of an illustrious college career for Horton, a two-time first-team All-Mountain West selection and team captain.
A Legacy Cut Short
Horton’s injury occurred during Saturday’s game against San Jose State, when he left the field late in the first half with an apparent knee issue. Although he returned in the second half, his performance was limited, and he finished the game with seven receptions for 75 yards. The severity of the injury was revealed on Monday night, leaving fans and teammates stunned.
A Decorated Career
Throughout his college career, Horton has been a dominant force on the field. With 96 receptions for 1,136 yards and eight touchdowns last season, he led Colorado State in receiving. In 2023, he tallied 71 receptions for 1,131 yards and eight touchdowns. This fall, he had 26 receptions for 353 yards and a score. Horton’s impressive stats have left him just 35 yards shy of Colorado State’s career receiving yards record.
A Bright Future Ahead
Despite this setback, Horton’s coach, Jay Norvell, remains optimistic about his future prospects. “His injury is season-ending, but he will fully recover and have his chance at the next level with the National Football League,” Norvell said in a statement. “I am appreciative of Tory’s loyalty to the staff and for his sacrifice and leadership to CSU.” With his talent and dedication, Horton is poised to make a splash in the NFL.
