The Elite 30,000-Point Club: Kevin Durant Knocking on the Door
As the 2024-25 NBA season approaches, a legendary milestone is within reach for one of the greatest scorers in the game. Kevin Durant, a four-time scoring champion, is just 1,076 points shy of joining an exclusive group of seven players who have achieved the remarkable feat of scoring 30,000 career points.
A Career of Consistency
Durant, now in his 17th season, has consistently demonstrated his ability to put up big numbers. With 28,924 career points under his belt, he’s proven himself to be one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history. While he’s never reached the 30,000-point mark, he’s come close, scoring at least 2,000 points in a single season on multiple occasions.
The Challenge Ahead
To reach the 30,000-point plateau, Durant will need to replicate his impressive 2013-14 MVP campaign, where he scored 2,593 points. While it won’t be easy, his recent performance suggests he’s still capable of putting up big numbers. Last season, he scored 2,032 points, his highest total since 2018-19.
