Rams’ Star Receiver Cooper Kupp Eyes Return to Action
The Los Angeles Rams received a much-needed boost on Wednesday as coach Sean McVay announced that wide receiver Cooper Kupp will participate in individual drills during practice, signaling a potential return to the field this Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.
A Long-Awaited Comeback
Kupp has been sidelined since Week 2, when he suffered a sprained ankle during the Rams’ matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. Despite the setback, McVay expressed optimism about Kupp’s progress, stating that the receiver is “trending in the right direction.”
A Cautious Approach
While McVay acknowledged that there’s a possibility Kupp could play on Sunday, he emphasized the importance of monitoring the receiver’s performance during practice this week. “We’ll see how today goes,” McVay said. “He’s trending in the right direction, but we’ll see exactly what that means as the week progresses.”
Putting in the Work
Kupp will focus on individual drills and work alongside the training staff on Wednesday. McVay indicated that if Kupp can practice successfully on Thursday and Friday, he would feel confident in the receiver’s ability to play on Sunday. “There’s no way to simulate the gamelike settings,” McVay noted. “You try to do that in practice as much as possible, but if today gives us the confidence that… there’s a value in terms of what he can provide on Sunday, then that would definitely be something that would leave the door open for him.”
A Glimpse into Kupp’s Season
In the two games he’s played this season, Kupp has racked up an impressive 18 catches for 147 yards and a touchdown. His potential return could be a game-changer for the Rams, who are looking to bounce back from a tough start to the season.
Another Player Takes a Step Forward
In addition to Kupp’s progress, the Rams also opened the 21-day practice window for tackle Joe Noteboom, who suffered an ankle sprain in the season opener. As the team continues to navigate the challenges of the NFL season, these positive developments could be just what they need to get back on track.
