Royal Touchdown: Prince William Impresses NFL Stars with Football Skills
Prince William, the future King of England, traded in his royal duties for a day of gridiron glory, impressing NFL stars Louis Rees-Zammit and Osi Umenyiora with his American football skills at an NFL Foundation UK event in London.
From Rugby to Football
Rees-Zammit, a wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars, was blown away by the prince’s throwing abilities. “His arm was better than mine,” he said, still in awe. William’s interest in the sport was palpable, as he quizzed Rees-Zammit about his transition from rugby union to the NFL.
A Royal Quarterback
At the event, hosted by the NFL Foundation UK, Prince William participated in various football drills, including a stint as quarterback in an NFL Flag match. His throws were on point, with one pass sailing across the field. Former NFL cornerback Jason Bell praised the prince’s talent, saying, “You can’t hide talent. He has it.”
Tackling the Art of Throwing
Phoebe Schecter, former Buffalo Bills coach and current GB Women’s Flag Football Team captain, offered the prince some valuable tips on how to spin the ball properly. William took her advice to heart, successfully throwing the ball into one of five small holes in a large net. Schecter was impressed, saying, “That was pretty incredible, to be honest.”
A Family Affair
Prince William revealed that he plans to continue honing his football skills at home with his three children. However, he expressed some concern about the potential damage to his windows. With his newfound passion for the sport, who knows? Maybe we’ll see the royal family cheering on their favorite NFL team soon!
