Super Bowl 2028: Atlanta Wins Bid to Host NFL Championship Game

Atlanta Wins Bid to Host Super Bowl LXII in 2028

In a major coup for the city of Atlanta, NFL team owners have voted to bring the Super Bowl back to the capital of Georgia in 2028. This will mark the fourth time the NFL’s championship game is played in Atlanta, and the second time at the state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

A City Built for Sports

Atlanta has a rich history of hosting major sporting events, and the Super Bowl is no exception. The city has previously hosted the big game in 1994 and 2000 at the now-demolished Georgia Dome, and again in 2019 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where the New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams.

A World-Class Event Destination

According to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Atlanta’s renowned hospitality and rich sports and entertainment culture make it a natural fit for Super Bowl LXII. “Atlanta is a world-class event destination, and we’re thrilled to be working with Arthur Blank, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Atlanta Sports Council to create an unforgettable experience for fans around the world in 2028,” Goodell said.

A Testament to Atlanta’s Commitment to Sports

Falcons owner Arthur M. Blank expressed his gratitude to the NFL team owners for their trust in awarding Atlanta the opportunity to host the Super Bowl. “Mercedes-Benz Stadium was built to host the world’s largest sporting events, and we’re honored to bring the Super Bowl back to Atlanta in 2028,” Blank said. “We look forward to working alongside our city and state officials to elevate Georgia as a premier, global sports destination.”

The Road to Super Bowl LXII

Before Atlanta takes center stage, the Super Bowl will head to New Orleans following this season, followed by two years in California, with the San Francisco Bay Area hosting in 2026 and Los Angeles in 2027. But for now, the spotlight is on Atlanta, and the city is ready to shine.
