Seahawks Acquire DT Roy Robertson-Harris from Jaguars

Seahawks Bolster Defense with Trade for Roy Robertson-Harris

The Seattle Seahawks have made a move to strengthen their defense, acquiring defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris from the Jacksonville Jaguars in a trade. The Seahawks will give up a 2026 sixth-round draft pick in exchange for the 31-year-old lineman.

A Much-Needed Reinforcement

Robertson-Harris brings a wealth of experience to the Seahawks, having played in 106 career games and notching 19 sacks and 26 tackles for loss. He spent his first five seasons with the Chicago Bears before joining the Jaguars in 2021. His arrival is a welcome boost for a Seattle defense that has struggled against the run in recent weeks.

Filling a Void

The Seahawks have been without several key players on defense, including rookie defensive tackle Byron Murphy II, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury. Outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu was recently placed on injured reserve, further depleting the team’s defensive ranks. Robertson-Harris’s addition helps fill this void and provides a physical presence on the line.

A Physical Player with a Chip on His Shoulder

According to teammate Trevis Gipson, who was acquired by the Seahawks from the Jaguars in late August, Robertson-Harris is a physical player who runs to the ball and leaves it all on the field. “He comes from a small school, so he has that chip on his shoulder,” Gipson said. “He’s a relentless worker, a family guy, real down to earth, real respectful guy. But he works hard.”

Production Dipped, but Still a Valuable Asset

While Robertson-Harris’s production has dipped slightly this season, he remains a valuable asset to the Seahawks. He has played in every game, notching seven tackles and four quarterback hits. With his experience and work ethic, he is expected to be a key contributor to the team’s defense.

Second Trade Between Seahawks and Jaguars

This marks the second trade between the Seahawks and Jaguars in the past month and a half. In late August, Seattle acquired outside linebacker Trevis Gipson from Jacksonville for a 2025 sixth-round pick. The two teams have a history of making deals, and this latest trade is expected to benefit both parties.
