A New Chapter Unfolds for Paul Pogba

After a tumultuous few months, Paul Pogba is finally seeing a glimmer of hope. The 31-year-old midfielder’s four-year ban for doping was recently reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), paving the way for his return to professional football in March 2025.

A Dark Time

Pogba admits that the initial ban left him feeling lost and uncertain about his future. “I had many thoughts in my head, I had so many thoughts to even stop playing,” he reveals. The prospect of four years without football was daunting, and he couldn’t help but wonder if any club would want him once he returned.

Faith and Positivity

However, Pogba’s faith and positivity ultimately prevailed. He knew he hadn’t intentionally done anything wrong, and he was determined to clear his name. Thankfully, the CAS ruling brought a sense of relief, and Pogba can now focus on rebuilding his career.

A Valuable Lesson Learned

The doping saga has been a valuable learning experience for Pogba. He’s become wiser and more cautious, realizing the importance of triple-checking every decision he makes. “You always have to be more careful of the decisions that you take,” he advises. “Make sure that you have everything on record.”

Club Future Uncertain

Pogba remains tight-lipped about his club future, with talks ongoing between Juventus and his representatives over a potential contract termination. His priority, for now, is to get himself ready for a return to football in January.

Proving Himself All Over Again

The 2018 World Cup-winner knows he’ll have to re-prove himself to earn a place back in Didier Deschamps’ national team setup. He’s respectful of the current players and is focused on training hard to deserve his place. “I have to respect that they’re doing well,” he says. “I need to train hard to deserve my place.”

A New Beginning

As Pogba looks to the future, he’s grateful for the lessons learned and the relationships he’s built along the way. His bond with Deschamps, in particular, has been a source of strength and inspiration. With a newfound sense of purpose, Pogba is ready to turn the page and start a new chapter in his career.
