Shocking Move: Jack Wilshere Set to Leave Arsenal for Norwich City
In a stunning development, former England midfielder Jack Wilshere is poised to join Norwich City as a first-team coach, leaving behind his role as Arsenal’s under-18 team manager. According to sources, Wilshere is in advanced talks with the Championship club, which would see him replace Narcis Pelach, who departed for Stoke City last month.
A New Chapter for Wilshere
Wilshere, who retired as a player in July 2022, has been coaching at Arsenal since 2022. His impressive playing career spanned 197 appearances for Arsenal, as well as stints at West Ham, Bolton, Bournemouth, and Danish side AGF Aarhus. He also earned 34 England caps. After hanging up his boots, Wilshere joined Arsenal’s academy, where he formed a close bond with Ben Knapper, who later became Norwich’s loans manager.
Arsenal’s Loss, Norwich’s Gain
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta refused to confirm Wilshere’s exit but praised his former player, saying: “He’s been great. Everyone knows about his career, about his character, and he’s a really special personality. His attachments to the football club are unique.” Arteta acknowledged Wilshere’s inspiring influence on the young players, citing his charisma and ability to connect with people.
Injury Update: Bukayo Saka and More
Meanwhile, Arsenal received a boost with the news that Bukayo Saka is likely to be fit for Saturday’s match against Bournemouth. Despite limping off during England’s Nations League defeat to Greece, Saka’s hamstring problem is not considered serious. Arteta confirmed that Kai Havertz (knee) and Gabriel Martinelli (calf) will be assessed after Friday’s training session, while Thomas Partey is available after missing international duty with Ghana due to illness. Martin Ødegaard’s ankle problem will keep him sidelined against Bournemouth, but Arteta is hopeful he’ll return soon.
