Chinese Golfer Ruoning Yin Claims Fourth LPGA Title
In a stunning comeback, Ruoning Yin of China secured her fourth LPGA victory at the Buick Shanghai tournament on Sunday. With a remarkable 8-under 64 in the final round, Yin overtook third-round leader Mao Saigo of Japan, who had been leading by one stroke.
A Thrilling Finish
Yin’s birdies on five of the last six holes proved to be the turning point in the tournament. Her impressive performance earned her a 25-under 263 for the four rounds at the Qizhong Garden Golf Club. Saigo, who had been eyeing her first LPGA Tour victory, closed with a 71 and tied for second place with Sei Young Kim of South Korea, who carded a 68.
Top Players Absent
Notably, two of the LPGA’s top players, Nelly Korda and Lydia Ko, were not part of the field this week in China. Both are set to compete in the upcoming BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea.
Other Notable Performances
Yealimi Noh of the United States finished in fourth place, seven strokes behind the winner, after carding a 67 on Sunday. Hye-Jin Choi of South Korea shot a 62, the lowest round of the tournament, but ultimately finished tied for fifth, nine shots off the pace.
