New Era Unfolds for West Coast Eagles
After a thrilling off-season, the West Coast Eagles have finally settled on their coaching structure under the leadership of new coach Andrew McQualter. The announcement brings an end to speculation surrounding the team’s coaching lineup, and fans can now look forward to an exciting 2025 season.
A New Chapter for Jarrad Schofield
Jarrad Schofield, who took the reins as interim coach following Adam Simpson’s departure in July, will remain with the team as midfield coach. Despite being a strong contender for the top job, Schofield has committed to working under McQualter’s guidance. This move is a testament to his dedication to the team and his willingness to adapt to new circumstances.
Marco Bello Joins the Fold
The Eagles have lured Marco Bello from Adelaide to take on the role of forwards coach. Bello brings a wealth of experience, having previously worked at Hawthorn and coached Box Hill in the VFL. His impressive credentials made him the top choice for McQualter and incoming head of football John Worsfold, who were both heavily involved in the recruitment process.
A Coaching Dream Team Takes Shape
The West Coast Eagles’ coaching group is now complete, with Luke Shuey in charge of stoppages and Luke Webster leading the backs. Jamie Maddocks has joined as head of development, while club legend Shannon Hurn returns as a development coach. Kyal Horsley will lead the WAFL Eagles in his second season as head coach, with Jacob Brennan continuing in a development role.
McQualter’s Vision for Success
Coach Andrew McQualter expressed his excitement about the new coaching lineup, saying, “I’m looking forward to working with all of our coaches next season… We’ve got a great mix of experience and fresh perspectives, and I’m confident that together, we can achieve great things.”
The West Coast Eagles’ 2025 coaching group is shaping up to be a formidable force, with a blend of seasoned coaches and new talent. As the team gears up for the new season, fans can expect an exciting brand of football that will leave them on the edge of their seats.
