Raiders’ Struggles Continue, But Maxx Crosby Remains Positive
The Las Vegas Raiders suffered a disappointing 32-13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but Pro Bowl edge rusher Maxx Crosby is choosing to focus on the positive.
A “Love Push” Misinterpreted
Crosby made headlines after the game when he was caught on camera shoving assistant coach Mike Caldwell on the sidelines. However, he quickly set the record straight, explaining that it was simply a “love push” between two passionate football personalities.
“We’re grown men, we’re alpha males, we don’t greet each other the same,” Crosby said with a laugh. “So he was hyping me up and I hyped him up. We’re down, but it just showed we’re not quitting.”
Tough Loss, But Lessons Learned
Despite the tough loss, Crosby and the Raiders are taking away valuable lessons from the game. Coach Antonio Pierce emphasized the importance of discipline and ball control, citing the team’s NFL-worst minus-10 turnover differential as a major concern.
“Our record is what it [is] … it’s not good enough,” Pierce said. “We’re not coaching well enough, we’re not playing well enough, and we’re not detailing well enough. More importantly, when you turn the ball over, you don’t give yourself a chance.”
Crosby Leads by Example
Crosby, who now has a team-leading 5.5 sacks in five games, is choosing to lead by example. Rather than getting bogged down by negativity, he’s focusing on the things that bring him joy – namely, playing football.
“You can fall into the crowd and be like everybody else and be negative and sad,” Crosby said. “But I’m blessed … blessed to be able to play this game. I would play if I made zero dollars doing it. I love doing this s—. I live it every day, so it doesn’t stop me.”
Looking Ahead
As the Raiders move forward, they’ll need to address their turnover issues and find ways to improve their overall performance. But with leaders like Crosby at the helm, there’s reason to believe that better days are ahead.
“So, unfortunately, we lost, but we have to respond,” Crosby said. “That’s literally all we can do.”
