Top International Prospect Chooses Arizona

In a significant boost to their 2025 recruiting class, the Arizona Wildcats have secured a commitment from top international basketball prospect Dwayne Aristode. The 6-foot-8 wing from the Netherlands is considered one of Europe’s most promising young players.

A Winning Culture

Aristode cited the winning culture established by Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd as a major factor in his decision. “They play fast and have the right balance between structure and giving players freedom,” he said. The Wildcats’ style of play aligns with Aristode’s own playing philosophy, which emphasizes speed and aggressiveness.

International Experience

Aristode has already made a name for himself on the international stage, having debuted for the Netherlands’ senior national team at just 17 years old. He impressed against top-tier opponents like Serbia and Belgium, and is eager to bring his experience to the collegiate level.

Representing His Country

“Representing my country was a dream come true,” Aristode said. “The pace and physicality were very different. I needed that experience playing against a three-time MVP in Nikola Jokic to see where my game is and where I want to go personally.” Aristode hopes to help the Netherlands become a top-ranked team in the future.

Adjusting to the US Game

Aristode is entering his second season of high school basketball in the United States, having spent time at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire and playing on the Nike EYBL grassroots circuit with Expressions Elite. He believes his experience in the US will serve him well at Arizona. “My experience in the US is going to help me because I had plenty of time to adjust to the pace and style of play,” he said.

A Strong Fit for Arizona

Aristode is the first player to commit to Arizona in the class of 2025, and is expected to make an immediate impact. He brings defensive versatility with his chiseled frame and 6-foot-10 wingspan, as well as dynamic 3-point shooting prowess. With Aristode on board, the Wildcats are shaping up to be a formidable force in the 2025-26 season.

Continuing a Legacy of International Talent

Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd has a reputation for attracting top international talent, having previously recruited players like Domantas Sabonis (Lithuania), Ronny Turiaf (France), and Rui Hachimura (Japan) during his time as an assistant at Gonzaga. Aristode is the latest addition to this pipeline, and is expected to thrive under Lloyd’s guidance.
