Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson is poised to take a significant step forward in his recovery from a calf injury, with Coach Mike Tomlin announcing that he will participate fully in Wednesday’s practice. This marks a turning point in Wilson’s rehabilitation, and Tomlin hinted that it could pave the way for his return to action against the Las Vegas Raiders. “Russell’s full participation is a promising sign, but we’re not getting ahead of ourselves,” Tomlin cautioned. “He still needs to navigate the rest of the week and demonstrate his ability to perform at a high level.” Wilson, 35, will work with the second-string offense, allowing Justin Fields to continue leading the first team during team periods. Tomlin emphasized that Wilson’s progress is a welcome development, but the team remains focused on the present moment. “We’re taking things one day at a time, and tomorrow will be a crucial test for Russell,” Tomlin said. “If he can complete a full practice without any issues, we’ll reassess his status and consider our options for the upcoming game.” Wilson has been sidelined for the entire season thus far, serving as the emergency third quarterback. However, his brief appearance on the sidelines during Sunday’s game, when Fields was briefly injured, suggested that he may be nearing a return to action.
