Manchester United’s embattled manager, Erik ten Hag, is pushing forward with preparations for the team’s upcoming match against Brentford, despite the lingering uncertainty surrounding his position. A well-placed source has revealed that ten Hag has been in contact with his staff during the break, gearing up for the October 19th showdown at Old Trafford.
The news comes on the heels of a marathon meeting between the club’s executive committee, including co-owners Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Joel Glazer, which lasted over six hours in central London. The gathering, attended by CEO Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth, technical director Jason Wilcox, and INEOS director of sport Sir Dave Brailsford, discussed the team’s dismal early-season performances, among other topics.
Despite the pressure mounting, ten Hag remains committed to his “long-term project” vision for the club. Following Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa, the Dutchman expressed confidence in retaining the support of key figures within the organization. In fact, he received no indication that his job was under immediate threat during his conversation with the club’s leadership team at Villa Park.
Manchester United’s struggles have been well-documented, with the team stuck in 14th place in the Premier League table and boasting a paltry eight points from their first seven games. The Red Devils have only managed two league wins this season, and their goal-scoring woes have seen them net fewer goals than all but one team – Southampton.
With seven games on the horizon before the November international break, ten Hag will be keen to turn the tide. United’s upcoming fixtures include clashes with West Ham, Chelsea, and Leicester in the Premier League, as well as Europa League matches against Fenerbahce and PAOK, and a Carabao Cup showdown with Leicester.
