The Toronto Maple Leafs have bolstered their roster with a trio of signings, inking veteran forwards Max Pacioretty and Steven Lorentz to one-year contracts, while also extending defenseman Cade Webber’s deal for two more seasons.
Pacioretty, 35, earned a spot on the team after an impressive showing during training camp, securing a deal worth $873,770. The seasoned forward brings a wealth of experience, having tallied 668 points (330 goals, 338 assists) in 902 regular-season games, as well as 50 points (25 goals, 25 assists) in 78 playoff contests.
“Training camp was a unique experience, balancing getting in shape with trying to make a good impression,” Pacioretty reflected. “It was a challenging but beneficial camp that helped me get up to speed.”
Lorentz, 28, joins the Maple Leafs from the Florida Panthers, where he recorded three points (one goal, two assists) in 38 regular-season games and added three points (two goals, one assist) in 16 playoff games, culminating in a Stanley Cup championship in 2024. His one-year deal is valued at $775,000.
Meanwhile, Webber’s two-year extension will kick in during the 2025-26 season, featuring a two-way contract in the first year before becoming a one-way deal in 2026-27. The 22-year-old defenseman’s contract carries an average annual value of $825,000. Webber previously skated in 38 games with Boston University, notching six assists and helping the Terriers reach the 2024 Frozen Four semifinals.
