A new era has dawned for the United States Men’s National Team, as Mauricio Pochettino takes the reins and sets a tone of intensity in his first training sessions. Defender Antonee Robinson noted a palpable shift in atmosphere, saying, “It feels a little more intense already. We’re not wasting any time, and it’s clear we’re here to work.” The team’s usual recovery routine has been replaced with a more rigorous approach, with Robinson adding, “Yesterday’s session was tough, and it’s evident we have a lot to learn in a short amount of time.”
After a disappointing summer that saw the team fail to advance in the Copa América and a subsequent coaching change, the USMNT is looking to rebound under Pochettino’s guidance. Defender Tim Ream, who plays for Charlotte FC, emphasized the new coach’s winning mentality, saying, “He wants to win, and that’s the message that’s been relayed to us. He’s taking the time to get to know each of us as individuals, and we’re excited to learn from him.”
As the team prepares for friendlies against Panama and Mexico, Pochettino’s focus on instilling a strong work ethic and winning mentality is evident. The USMNT will host Panama on October 12 in Austin, Texas, before traveling to Guadalajara to face Mexico on October 15. With a new coach at the helm, the team is looking to turn the page and start anew, driven by a shared desire for success.
