In a move to bolster their goaltending depth, the Anaheim Ducks have acquired seasoned netminder James Reimer from the Buffalo Sabres via waivers. The 36-year-old veteran had inked a one-year, $1 million deal with the Sabres back in July.
Reimer’s arrival fills a critical void behind Lukas Dostal, as John Gibson continues to recuperate from an emergency appendectomy he underwent last month. The Ducks will kick off their 2024-25 campaign on Saturday with a road matchup against the San Jose Sharks.
Reimer brings a wealth of experience to Anaheim, having spent the previous season with the Detroit Red Wings, where he posted an 11-8-2 record, accompanied by a.904 save percentage, 3.11 goals-against average, and two shutouts. Throughout his 14-year NHL tenure, Reimer has compiled an impressive 215-177-63 record, boasting a.910 save percentage, 2.88 GAA, and 30 shutouts across stints with five different teams.
