**Leadership Shift at Collingwood Football Club**
In a surprise move, Jeff Browne, president of the Collingwood Football Club, has announced his decision to step down from his position at the end of the year. Browne, who has been at the helm since 2021, revealed his plans in a heartfelt letter to the club’s loyal fans.
Citing a desire to prioritize his health, Browne expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the club, highlighting the significant progress made during his tenure. Despite being in remission from a cancer diagnosis last year, Browne acknowledged the demanding nature of his role and the need to devote more time to his well-being.
During his three-year stint, the club achieved notable successes, including the 2023 premiership under coach Craig McRae. Additionally, Browne oversaw the implementation of the Do Better report’s recommendations, addressing systemic racism within the organization.
Browne emphasized his confidence in the club’s current state, stating that he leaves with Collingwood in a stronger position than when he first took on the role. However, his departure comes at a time of uncertainty, with the team missing finals this year and former football boss Graham Wright set to depart for a new opportunity at Carlton.
As the club prepares for a new era of leadership, fans will be watching closely to see who will take the reins and guide Collingwood forward.
