In a thrilling matchup, the Adelaide squad brought an end to the Illawarra team’s undefeated streak in the NBL season. The game was a real nail-biter, with Kendric Davis emerging as the hero in a high-scoring showdown.
The Adelaide team jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter, only to trail by five points at the end of the period. They regained their footing in the second quarter, pushing ahead by six points, but found themselves facing a seven-point deficit in the final quarter.
Undeterred, Davis and his teammates staged a remarkable comeback, with Davis pouring in 13 points in the first six minutes and adding crucial baskets down the stretch. His clutch three-pointer with under 90 seconds remaining silenced the packed WIN Entertainment Centre crowd and gave Adelaide the lead.
Tyler Harvey, who finished with 22 points, responded with a dagger of his own, putting Illawarra back in front. But Davis and the Adelaide squad refused to give up. With the game on the line, Harvey’s open three-pointer rimmed out, securing a 102-100 victory for Adelaide.
Trey Kell, playing against his former team, had a strong outing for Illawarra, scoring 29 points, including nine in the final quarter. However, it was not enough to overcome the Adelaide trio of Davis, Isaac Humphries, and Montrezl Harrell, who combined for 66 points and 26 rebounds.
The game got off to a rocky start for Illawarra, with turnovers and poor passes leading to an early timeout. But they regrouped and took control, ending the first quarter up by five points. Adelaide fought back in the second quarter, limiting Illawarra’s lead to just two points at halftime.
In the end, it was Adelaide’s defense that made the difference, allowing them to overcome a late deficit and secure a hard-fought win. The victory improved Adelaide’s record to 2-2, while Illawarra fell to 3-1.
