**COLLEGE FOOTBALL: THE WILD RIDE OF WINNERS, LOSERS, AND HOLY SH*T MOMENTS**

In a surprise move, five University of Central Florida football players have opted to redshirt and enter the transfer portal, the school announced ahead of their Saturday night matchup against Florida. The group includes standout wide receiver Xavier Townsend, who has hauled in 10 passes for 69 yards and a score this season, as well as defensive end Kaven Call, right tackle Wes Dorsey, and safeties Bryon Threats and William Wells.

Townsend, a junior from Tampa, was the only starter among the quintet. His decision to sit out the remainder of the season comes on the heels of UCF’s 48-21 defeat at the hands of Colorado. The Knights, now 3-1, will face Florida without kicker Colton Boomer, who is sidelined with an unspecified injury. Grant Reddick will fill in for Boomer, donning the No. 33 jersey previously worn by Call.

Under NCAA regulations, players are permitted to participate in up to four regular-season games without sacrificing a year of eligibility. As a result, all five players can formally enter the transfer portal on December 9 and join new teams in time for bowl practices. However, they will not be eligible to take the field until the 2025 season.
