**COLLEGE FOOTBALL’S HOLY SH*T WEEKEND: TEXAS, OHIO STATE, OREGON RISE TO THE TOP**

College Football Upset: Texas Regains Top Spot After Wild Week

In a stunning turn of events, the Texas Longhorns reclaimed the number one spot in the Associated Press college football poll, following a monumental upset by Vanderbilt over Alabama. The Commodores’ historic win as massive underdogs sent the Crimson Tide tumbling from the top spot to seventh place.

Meanwhile, Texas, who enjoyed a bye week, garnered 52 out of 61 first-place votes, becoming the first team in two years to bounce in and out of the top spot in just three polls. The Longhorns also made history as only the third team since 2008 to be voted number one without playing the previous day.

Ohio State, fresh from a convincing win over Iowa, moved up to second place, receiving nine first-place votes. Oregon and Penn State both rose three spots, with the Ducks now at number three and the Nittany Lions at number four. Georgia held steady at number five.

The chaos didn’t stop there, as six of the 18 ranked teams suffered losses to unranked opponents, marking the highest percentage since 2020. Tennessee, Michigan, and USC were among the top 11 teams to fall to unranked foes, with the Trojans dropping out of the top 25 altogether.

In other notable moves, Texas A&M jumped from 25th to 15th after a dominant win over Missouri, while Clemson and Iowa State made significant leaps to 10th and 11th, respectively. SMU and Pittsburgh entered the rankings at 25th and 22nd, respectively, after impressive wins.

The SEC continues to dominate the top 10, with five teams represented, while the Big Ten boasts four teams in the top five. The conference breakdown stands at: SEC (9), Big Ten (6), Big 12 (4), ACC (4), Mountain West (1), and Independent (1).

Looking ahead, several high-stakes matchups are on the horizon, including a top-25 clash between Texas and Oklahoma, and a potential Big Ten championship preview between Ohio State and Oregon.
