In a move to bolster their defensive lineup, the Calgary Flames have inked a one-year deal with veteran blue-liner, Tyson Barrie, worth $1.25 million. The 33-year-old right-handed shooter brings a wealth of experience to the team, having tallied an impressive 210 points on the power play throughout his career.

Barrie, who stands at 5’11” and weighs 197 pounds, initially joined the Flames on a professional tryout contract during training camp. Last season, he played 41 regular-season games for the Nashville Predators, notching one goal and 14 assists.

Throughout his 13-year career, Barrie has suited up for four teams, including Colorado, Toronto, Edmonton, and Nashville, amassing 109 goals and 396 assists in 809 games. The Flames will wrap up their preseason schedule on Friday night, hosting the Winnipeg Jets at home, before kicking off the regular season on Wednesday night against the Vancouver Canucks.
