In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, the Augusta community has been left reeling from the devastating damage. In response, a generous $5 million donation has been made to the Community Crisis Fund, aimed at supporting local relief efforts. This substantial contribution will provide vital assistance to those affected, granting access to essential services and resources throughout the greater Augusta area.
The donation, made in partnership with the Community Foundation for the Central Savannah River Area, will have a tangible impact on the community. A mobile feeding truck, operated by the American Red Cross, will be deployed to the HUB for Community Innovation, offering a range of services including meals, water, laundry, bathing, and counseling to residents at no cost.
Despite concerns about the impact of the storm on the upcoming golf tournament, organizers remain confident in the recovery process. With a dedicated team working tirelessly to restore the course, the event is expected to take place as scheduled in April.
“I witnessed the storm’s devastating effects firsthand,” said a spokesperson for the golf club. “Our community needs immediate and meaningful support to overcome the challenges they’re facing. We’re committed to getting back on track and hosting a successful tournament.”
