In a thrilling comeback, Barcelona’s women’s team stormed back from a halftime deficit to trounce Madrid CFF 8-1 in Liga F, preserving their perfect record this season. The hosts had taken an early lead through Allegra Poljak’s 15th-minute strike, but the Blaugrana responded with a blistering second-half display, netting eight unanswered goals.
English midfielder Keira Walsh led the charge, bagging a brace that included the equalizer and the fifth goal, marking her first double for the club since joining from Manchester City in 2022. Ewa Pajor, who has now scored six times in five appearances since her summer move from VfL Wolfsburg, Vicky López, Alexia Putellas, Ingrid Syrstad Engen, Ona Batlle, and Jana Fernández all found the back of the net in the rout.
Putellas’ goal brought her level with Ladislao Kubala as the fourth-highest scorer across both the men’s and women’s teams, with 194 goals for Barça. Only Lionel Messi, César Rodríguez, and Luis Suárez have scored more for the Catalan giants.
With their domestic form on track, Barcelona now shifts focus to the UEFA Women’s Champions League, where they face Manchester City on the road in their opening match on Wednesday.
