Kansas City Quarterback Expresses Concern Over Teammate’s Injury
Kansas City, MO – In a recent game against the Los Angeles Chargers, a chaotic scene unfolded as players from both teams scrambled to recover a fumble. In the midst of the action, quarterback Patrick Mahomes inadvertently collided with his own teammate, wide receiver Rashee Rice, causing a knee injury that forced Rice out of the game.
Mahomes revealed that he wasn’t initially aware of the collision, but upon reviewing the play on the stadium’s videoboard, he felt a pang of guilt. “When I saw the replay, I felt terrible about hitting Rashee,” Mahomes said. “My main concern was his well-being, hoping the injury wasn’t as severe as it looked.”
Rice did not participate in practice on Thursday and has been ruled out of the upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints. Coach Andy Reid stated that the team won’t know the full extent of the injury until next week, pending further testing after the swelling in Rice’s knee subsides.
Reid expressed optimism about the team’s ability to adapt to Rice’s absence, saying, “Injuries are an unfortunate part of the game. We expect the next players to step up and fill the void. There’s no replacing Rashee, but we have other talented players who can make an impact.”
In other news, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire has begun his three-week practice window to return from the non-football injury list. Edwards-Helaire, who has been battling post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), will initially practice with the scout team as he works his way back into football shape. Coach Reid is taking a cautious approach, saying, “We’ll get him back into the swing of things and see how he does. He’s been working out and is in good shape, so we’ll just get him back into football mode.”
