In a thrilling matchup, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ star wide receiver, Mike Evans, made history by tying for 11th place on the NFL’s all-time touchdown receptions list. Evans achieved this feat in the first half against the Atlanta Falcons, leaving fans in awe.
The Buccaneers’ quarterback, Baker Mayfield, connected with Evans for a 23-yard touchdown pass, marking Evans’ 99th career touchdown reception. This impressive play put the Buccaneers ahead 17-14. Evans has now accumulated 100 total touchdowns, including a fumble recovery return.
As the game unfolded, Mayfield continued to shine, throwing his third touchdown of the half to Sterling Shepard for a four-yard score with just 1:56 remaining in the second quarter. The Buccaneers responded to the Falcons’ opening drive touchdown by Drake London with a 2-yard touchdown strike from Mayfield to Evans, tying the game at 7-7.
The Buccaneers’ offense was firing on all cylinders, with Mayfield moving to his right and throwing across his body to find an isolated Evans on a crossing route. The middle of the field was wide open, thanks to clever positioning by Bucky Irving and Rachaad White.
This marks the second consecutive week the Buccaneers have scored an opening-drive touchdown, a significant improvement after a 22-week drought. The team added to their lead with a 53-yard field goal in the first quarter, making it 10-7.
