In a bizarre incident, a mysterious gift awaited Missouri Tigers wide receiver Theo Wease Jr. upon his arrival in College Station ahead of their matchup against the Texas A&M Aggies. An anonymous individual had left an Aggie-themed blanket, accompanied by a cryptic message warning that the coverage would be “real” the following day. Wease, undaunted, wore the blanket to Kyle Field the next morning.
The gesture seemed to be a nod to Texas A&M defensive back Will Lee III, known by his nickname “The Blanket.” However, Lee denied any involvement, leaving the identity of the prankster unknown.
Regardless of the blanket’s origin, the Aggies’ defense made good on the anonymous sender’s promise, stifling the Tigers’ offense and propelling Texas A&M to a dominant 41-10 victory. Wease, who managed only two receptions on the day, did score the Tigers’ lone touchdown on a 59-yard catch in the third quarter.
Lee celebrated the win on social media, posting a GIF featuring a blanket, which some interpreted as a subtle reference to the pregame taunt. The junior defensive back had a solid outing, recording two tackles and a pair of passes defended.
