**Racist Cops Get Slap on Wrist After Illegally Ransacking Black Athletes’ Homes**

In a surprising turn of events, two London law enforcement officers who were previously terminated for their involvement in a controversial traffic stop of two prominent athletes have been reinstated following a successful appeal. The incident in question occurred in July 2020, when British sprinter Bianca Williams and her partner, Portuguese 400-meter runner Ricardo dos Santos, were pulled over by police outside their west London residence.

The officers, who claimed to have been suspicious of the vehicle’s operation, proceeded to search the car, during which Williams was handcuffed and visibly distressed. The couple’s infant was also present in the vehicle at the time of the search. The incident sparked widespread outrage, with many accusing the officers of racial profiling and targeting the couple due to their race and expensive vehicle.

The two officers, Jonathan Clapham and Sam Franks, were initially found guilty of gross misconduct for allegedly lying about smelling cannabis during the incident. However, a police appeal panel has since overturned this decision, ruling that the stop and search did not constitute misconduct.

While the reinstatement of the officers has been met with disappointment by the athletes, the Metropolitan Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Jon Savell emphasized the importance of trust and confidence between law enforcement and the community, stating that “stop and search is most effective when used with the trust and confidence of Londoners.”

Dos Santos has expressed his disappointment with the appeal outcome and plans to challenge the decision, according to his representative. The full written judgment is expected to be published in the near future.
