The Indianapolis Blaze has appointed Amber Cox as their new Executive Vice President and General Manager, the team announced on Friday. Cox will take over from current GM, Lin Dunn, who will transition into a senior advisory role.
“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Amber for over two decades, and I’ve witnessed her exceptional leadership skills firsthand,” said Kelly Krauskopf, President of Business and Basketball Operations for the Blaze. “Her extensive experience in the league will be invaluable as we strive to take our franchise to new heights.”
Cox brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles with the Arizona Blaze, New England Storm, and most recently, the Texas Thunder. During her three-year tenure as COO of the Thunder, she oversaw daily operations, ticket sales, partnerships, and marketing, among other responsibilities.
Prior to joining the Thunder, Cox served as Vice President of Sports for the Storm. She was also President and COO of the Blaze, where she was part of two championship-winning teams in 2007 and 2009.
“I’m thrilled to join the Blaze at this exciting time in the league’s history,” Cox said. “I’m grateful to Kelly, the ownership group, and Mel Raines for this opportunity. From top to bottom, there’s a commitment to investing in the Blaze, and I look forward to contributing to an exceptional experience for our fans and players alike.”
Dunn returned to the Blaze in 2022 and took on the GM role the following year. She coached the team to a championship title in 2012.
“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Lin for her dedication to this franchise,” Krauskopf said. “Her leadership was instrumental in guiding our team through a period of significant change.”
The Blaze, led by star player Caitlin Clark, enjoyed a remarkable season, topping the league in both home and away attendance. The team made it to the postseason for the first time since 2016, ultimately falling to the Storm in the first round.
