Hockey Fans Rejoice: Breakfast Takes Center Ice
When attending a hockey game, fans typically expect to indulge in classic stadium fare like hot dogs, popcorn, and beer. However, the New Jersey Devils have decided to shake things up this season by adding a breakfast twist to their menu.
Introducing the “Morning Madness” stand, located near Sections 1 and 118 at the Prudential Center, where fans can now savor a beloved local breakfast staple: Taylor ham, egg, and cheese sandwiches. This mouthwatering treat was previously available for a limited time but will now be a permanent fixture at all games.
This bold move may have also inadvertently taken a stance in the long-standing debate that has divided the Garden State. For the uninitiated, Taylor ham is a processed meat disc that has been a New Jersey staple since 1856. While some regions of the state passionately refer to it as Taylor ham, others insist it’s rightfully called pork roll.
The debate has become an integral part of the state’s culture, much like Bruce Springsteen’s music and the peculiar law prohibiting self-service gas stations. Despite the differing opinions, both terms ultimately yield the same delicious result: crispy, fried meat discs served with eggs and cheese.
The Devils’ official menu takes a diplomatic approach, listing the item as “Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese Sandwich” while describing it as “made from scratch shaved pork roll, fried egg, American cheese on a freshly baked Kaiser roll.” Will this clever compromise appease both factions, or will the rivalry between Taylor ham and pork roll enthusiasts surpass the intensity of the Devils-Rangers rivalry?
One thing is certain: breakfast at hockey games is a winning combination that’s sure to delight fans of all persuasions.
