Indianapolis Colts Face Uncertainty Ahead of AFC South Showdown
The Indianapolis Colts are bracing for a tough AFC South matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, but they’ll have to do so without the services of star running back Jonathan Taylor. Taylor, who ranks fifth in the league in rushing, suffered an ankle injury in the team’s previous game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and has been unable to practice all week.
Quarterback Anthony Richardson’s status is also up in the air, as he continues to nurse a deep bruise to his hip and oblique area. Richardson has been limited in practice for three consecutive days and his availability for Sunday’s game remains uncertain.
If Richardson is unable to play, veteran backup Joe Flacco will take the reins. Flacco filled in admirably for Richardson against the Steelers, throwing for 168 yards and two touchdowns in the Colts’ win.
The Colts will also be without cornerback Kenny Moore and defensive end Kwity Paye, who are both dealing with injuries. Moore has a hip issue, while Paye is nursing a quad injury.
In Taylor’s absence, the Colts are expected to turn to Trey Sermon at running back, with Tyler Goodson also available on the active roster. The status of center Ryan Kelly, who missed practices this week with a neck injury, remains unclear.
As the Colts prepare to face their AFC South rivals, they’ll need to find ways to overcome these injuries and come out on top. With Richardson’s physical style being a key part of his game, it remains to be seen how he’ll adapt if he’s able to play on Sunday. One thing is certain, however: the Colts will need all hands on deck to emerge victorious against the Jaguars.
